Kevin Costner’s Divorce Drama: Wife Refuses to Leave His House

    Published on

Kevin Costner, the star of movies such as “Dances with Wolves” and “The Bodyguard”, is facing a bitter divorce battle with his second wife, Christine Baumgartner, who is refusing to move out of his oceanfront estate in California.

According to court documents obtained by various outlets, Costner and Baumgartner signed a prenuptial agreement in 2004 that gave Costner the right to access his separate property residences in case of a divorce. Costner bought the Carpinteria estate in 1988, before he married Baumgartner, and has spent millions on renovations over the years.

However, Baumgartner is not honoring the prenup and is staying put in the house, despite Costner’s multiple requests and offers to assist her financially in relocation. Costner claims that Baumgartner is demanding more money from him than what was agreed upon in the prenup.

“Christine has not moved out, despite multiple requests that she do so and despite Kevin’s offers to assist her financially in relocation to a new residence. Instead, Christine has taken the position that she will not move out of Kevin’s separate property residence unless and until Kevin agrees to various financial demands,” Costner’s court filing states.

The filing also says the prenuptial agreement stipulated that he pay Baumgartner $100,000 upon their marriage and another $100,000 on their first anniversary, which he did. He was also required to pay Baumgartner $1 million after she filed for divorce, the documents say.

According to the filing, Costner has agreed to the terms of the prenuptial agreement, which include a $200,000 deposit to assist Baumgartner in purchasing a new home, covering her property taxes and homeowners insurance for a year. Additionally, Costner has offered financial support for her relocation expenses, utilizing his current staff for assistance, and augmenting the monthly child support amount specified in the prenuptial agreement by an additional $38,000 per month, making a total of $30,000 per month.

“I was married once before and, upon separation, I found myself without a home base and unable to live in my own home. I never wanted this to happen again. Because of the nature of my work, I am frequently out of town,” Costner’s declaration reads.

Costner says he has paid Baumgartner all the money he owed her under the prenup, which included $100,000 when they married and again on their first anniversary, as well as $1 million when she filed for divorce last month. He also says he is willing to pay $30,000 per month for a rental house for her and their three children, as well as $10,000 for her moving costs.

Costner and Baumgartner married in 2003 after dating for four years. They have three children together: Cayden, 14, Hayes, 12, and Grace, 11. Costner also has four children from previous relationships: Annie, 37, Lily, 35, Joe, 33, and Liam, 25.
