Armed Man with Bombs Found Dead at Colorado Adventure Park

    Published on

A 22-year-old man from Carbondale, Colorado, died at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park after breaking into the park after hours on Saturday night. He was wearing tactical clothing and carrying weapons and explosives, including a semi-automatic rifle, a handgun, and multiple bombs.

The man, identified as Benjamin James, was found dead by park employees on Sunday morning. The cause of his death is unknown and the investigation is ongoing. No one else was in danger.

“We don’t know what his intentions were. We don’t know if he was there to harm himself or others,” said Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario.

The bomb squad and the SWAT team searched the park and his home for more devices and found more explosives and ammunition. The park was closed on Sunday and Monday for safety reasons and reopened on Tuesday with increased security measures.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends,” said Steve Beckley, co-owner of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

The park, located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, is known for its thrill rides and cave tours. It attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Some visitors expressed shock and fear over the incident.

“It’s scary to think that someone would do something like that. I’m glad no one else was hurt,” said Jennifer Smith, a visitor at the park.

Others said they felt safe and confident in the park’s management.

“We are working closely with law enforcement and local authorities to ensure the safety of our guests and employees,” said Nancy Heard, general manager of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.

“This is a very complex investigation that has many facets that need to be thoroughly investigated,” said Glenwood Springs Police Chief Joseph Deras.

The motive behind James’ actions remains unclear. Authorities have not released any information about his background or possible affiliations. They have also not confirmed whether he acted alone or had any accomplices.
