President Joe Biden’s campaign has released a new ad that attacks former President Donald Trump’s record on manufacturing and praises Biden’s support for autoworkers.
The ad, which is part of a $25 million campaign in battleground states, uses Trump’s own words to contrast his promises with his actions. The ad shows clips of Trump saying he would “bring back” manufacturing jobs and then admitting he “gave up” on them.
The ad also shows Biden joining a picket line of autoworkers in Michigan, and says he is “the only candidate who’s ever stood with American workers on the line”. The ad ends with Biden saying, “I’ll always have your back.”
Biden has shifted into campaign mode with more attacks on Trump, accusing him of being “weak” and “corrupt” and saying he has “betrayed” the American people.
Biden also bashed Trump’s auto industry record in remarks to UAW members on Tuesday, saying that Trump “turned his back” on them and “stabbed them in the back”.
Biden has been highlighting his economic achievements and his opposition to “MAGA extremism” in his ads and speeches, hoping to appeal to voters who are concerned about the state of the economy and the rise of political violence.
