During a segment on Fox News, a panel discussion about President Joe Biden’s polling numbers for the 2024 presidential election quickly pivoted to a contentious exchange over former President Donald Trump’s controversial dinner with avowed neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes.
Harris Faulkner, a Fox News anchor, and conservative pundit Tammy Bruce were taken aback when Democratic strategist Jonathan Kott, who previously served as Senator Joe Manchin’s communications chief, brought up the incident, asserting he would prefer a president with occasional verbal stumbles over one who “spews conspiracy theories, racist nonsense, and has dinner with Nazis.”
Kott’s mention of Trump’s meeting with Fuentes led to an immediate reaction from Bruce, who accused him of labeling Republicans as Nazis and racists, to which Kott clarified he specifically referred to Trump having dinner with a Nazi, a fact grounded in the reality of Trump’s meeting with Fuentes and rapper Kanye West, who has also made antisemitic statements, at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in November 2022.
The exchange grew heated as Bruce vehemently objected to Kott’s remarks, arguing that such tactics would not resonate with the American electorate and citing Trump’s numbers as evidence.
Faulkner intervened to conclude the segment but not without expressing her disappointment in Kott’s rhetoric, which she deemed a sign of desperation. Bruce echoed the sentiment, labeling the strategy as one that Americans disliked and took personally.
