How Riley Keough almost killed Andrew Garfield with a peanut kiss

Riley Keough, the actress who starred in the 2019 movie Under the Silver Lake with Andrew Garfield, has revealed a shocking behind-the-scenes story that could have ended in tragedy. In a video interview with Collider, Keough confessed that she accidentally shut down the set of the film when she ate a granola bar with peanuts before a kissing scene with Garfield, who is severely allergic to peanuts.

Riley Keough is opening up about a bittersweet memory.

“I had a granola bar in my bag that had nuts in it, and I was eating it, and then I went to go do the scene where we kiss, and the makeup artist was like, ‘Hey, you can’t have that. He’s allergic to peanuts,'” Keough said. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, what?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah, we have to shut this down.’ And then they shut it down. They had to be very careful with it because he has a big allergy,” she added.

Keough said she was glad that the makeup artist caught it, because she had no idea about Garfield’s condition. “It was very stressful. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I almost killed Andrew Garfield.’ He would have kissed me and probably died if I didn’t wipe off my mouth or whatever,” she said.

Garfield has previously shared that he is used to being hospitalized for his peanut allergy. In 2016, he told The Guardian that he went into anaphylactic shock while out to dinner with Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan. “I’m one of those people who always ends up on crutches or having surgery,” he said. “I went into anaphylactic shock last time I was in London. I was out with Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan. We went out for dinner and I had a seafood pasta dish. It turns out there were nuts in it,” he said.

Under the Silver Lake is a neo-noir mystery film directed by David Robert Mitchell. It follows Garfield as a disenchanted man who becomes obsessed with finding a missing woman (Keough) in Los Angeles. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, but has gained a cult following since its release.

The film is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and other platforms. If you are a fan of Garfield or Keough, you might want to check it out. Just make sure you don’t have any peanuts nearby.
