Pentagon Launches Website to Watch Declassified UFO Videos

    Published on

The Pentagon has recently launched a new website where the public can access declassified information about reported sightings of UFOs, or UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena). The website, which is run by the Pentagon’s office to investigate UFOs, called AARO, also allows U.S. government and military personnel to report objects violating U.S. airspace or flying in ways beyond human technology.

The website currently contains some videos and documents related to UFOs, some of which are explained and some of which are unresolved. The videos were filmed by Navy personnel, and they show what appear to be unidentified flying objects rapidly moving while recorded by infrared cameras. Some of the videos have been previously released by the Pentagon or leaked by former officials, but now they are officially available on the website.

The Pentagon said it is committed to transparency and safety on the topic of UFOs, and that it will update the website regularly with new findings. “The Department of Defense established the AOIMSG to improve its understanding of, and gain insight into, the nature and origins of UAPs,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said in a statement. “The mission of the AOIMSG is to detect, identify and attribute objects of interest in special-use airspace, as well as to assess and mitigate any associated threats to safety of flight and national security,” Kirby added.

The Pentagon’s move is a sign that officials are taking the issue seriously after years of stigma and ridicule. The website is intended to be a one-stop shop for information related to AARO activities, a Pentagon spokesperson told NBC News. The website also aims to educate the public about the phenomenon and encourage more reporting from witnesses.

The launch of the website comes after a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in June, which acknowledged that there were 144 cases of UAPs reported by military and intelligence sources between 2004 and 2021, but only one of them could be explained. The report said that most of the UAPs posed a challenge to U.S. national security and flight safety, and that more scientific research was needed to understand them.
