The Super Models is a new docuseries that will take viewers on a journey through the lives and careers of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington, who are widely regarded as the most influential supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s. The four-part series, which will premiere on Apple TV+ on October 8, 2023, will feature exclusive interviews and archival footage of the four women, who transcended the fashion industry and became cultural icons, influencing art, music, politics and pop culture.
The docuseries is directed by Barbara Kopple, who is a two-time Academy Award winner for best documentary feature. Kopple said in a statement that she has been wanting to do this project for over 10 years. “To finally capture the stories of these iconic women who have had such an enormous impact on our culture has been a dream come true,” she said.
The Super Models will also highlight some of the notable names and events that shaped their careers, such as George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” music video, which was directed by David Fincher and starred the four supermodels. Cindy Crawford said that George Michael was responsible for them being in the public eye in a different way. “He was like our guardian angel,” she said.
The docuseries will also explore the personal and professional relationships among the four supermodels, who were friends, sisters, enemies and everything in between. Linda Evangelista said that they were very close and supportive of each other. “We were friends, we were sisters, we were enemies sometimes. We were everything to each other,” she said.
The four supermodels also expressed their hope that their docuseries will inspire young people around the world. “We hope our journey seen in the docuseries will encourage, motivate and inspire young people around the world. We look forward to this great adventure ahead with director Barbara Kopple,” they said in a joint statement.
The Super Models is a must-watch for anyone who loves fashion, history and culture. It is a tribute to the four women who revolutionized the world of modeling and beyond. As Christy Turlington said, “We were part of a movement. We weren’t just faces. We had something to say.”
