Pedro Pascal’s Packed Schedule Pushes Back “The Last of Us” Season 2

    Published on

The fans of “The Last of Us,” the hit TV series based on the acclaimed PlayStation game, will have to wait longer for the second season. The reason? The lead actor Pedro Pascal is too busy with other projects.

Pascal, who plays Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a young girl named Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America, has been in high demand lately. He has starred in many popular franchises such as “Game of Thrones,” “Star Wars,” “Kingsman,” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” He is currently working on several roles in Marvel, DC, and other popular franchises, which have caused conflicts with the filming of “The Last of Us” season 2.

According to a recent update, the filming of the second season has been delayed again, this time due to Pascal’s involvement in “Gladiator 2” and “Fantastic Four.” The filming of “The Last of Us” season 2 is now expected to start in February 2024 and end in September 2024, which means the season will not be released until 2025 at the earliest.

This is a significant setback for the fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of Joel and Ellie’s story. The first season of the series, which premiered in 2023, received critical acclaim and commercial success. It was praised for its faithful adaptation of the game, its stellar cast, and its gripping narrative.

However, the second season may deviate from the original game’s story, as the show’s writers Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have leveraged their creative license to twist the story up a little bit. In the first season, they introduced entirely new characters, developed new storylines, and omitted some scenes entirely.

The second season of the game, which was released in 2020, was also controversial among the fans, as it featured some shocking twists and turns. Some fans loved it, while others hated it. It remains to be seen how the TV series will handle the game’s divisive plot.

Meanwhile, Pascal is also busy with other projects, such as “The Mandalorian,” the “Star Wars” spin-off series where he plays the titular bounty hunter. Pascal only lent his voice for the third season of the show, which is expected to premiere in 2024. He is also rumored to play Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four, in the MCU’s reboot of the superhero team.

Pascal is not the only actor who is juggling multiple roles in different franchises. His co-star Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, is also known for her roles in “Game of Thrones,” “His Dark Materials,” and “The Worst Witch.” She is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of “The School for Good and Evil.”

With such busy schedules, it is understandable that the filming of “The Last of Us” season 2 has been facing delays. However, the fans can only hope that the wait will be worth it, and that the show will deliver another amazing season that will capture the essence of the game.
