Brian Cox, the acclaimed actor who plays media mogul Logan Roy in the hit series Succession, has revealed that he turned down an offer to be a contestant on the popular dance show Strictly Come Dancing.
The 77-year-old actor said he loves dancing but was not keen on joining the competition. He feared he would be treated as a joke contestant and not taken seriously.
Cox stated, “I don’t know if I want to go down that road.” He added: When questioned if he could be persuaded, he responded: “I’m getting too old for it anyway.”
Cox’s decision was not due to a lack of passion for dancing, as he has shown his skills on several occasions. He performed a dance routine to Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” with his Succession castmates, which went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing has also faced some challenges in its latest season, as one of its professional dancers, Amy Dowden, has been diagnosed with two types of cancer. Dowden, 32, who has been on the show since 2017, revealed her health struggles earlier this year.
Dowden’s condition has forced her to withdraw from the competition, as she undergoes chemotherapy and other treatments. She said she was devastated to miss out on the show, which she loves so much.
Despite the challenges, Dowden has remained positive and hopeful. She expressed her desire to continue dancing, stating, “you can take away my boob but you can’t take my dancing away from me.” She also said she was looking forward to a follow-up scan and hoped for good news.
