Sneak Peek Into 2024: Metal Gear Solid Delta & Silent Hill 2 on PS5

    Published on

PlayStation gamers, get ready to revisit some classic spine-chilling and stealth-action adventures as 2024 promises the return of two legendary titles, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Silent Hill 2, exclusively revamped for the PlayStation 5. These highly anticipated remakes are set to rekindle the nostalgia of long-time fans and introduce a new generation to the franchises that have left indelible marks on the gaming landscape.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the much-awaited remake of the 2004 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War in 1964, players will once again don the stealth suit of FOX operative Naked Snake. The remake promises to deliver a faithful retelling of Naked Snake’s mission to rescue a Russian rocket scientist, dismantle the Soviet nuclear superweapon Shagohod, and navigate through a web of espionage and betrayal. As Konami states, the remake will “evolve the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience,” which means the game is not just a visual upgrade but also an overhaul in terms of player experience.

What’s more, Konami is also pushing the envelope with “unprecedented graphics and immersive sound,” raising expectations for what the PS5’s hardware can bring to the classic title. This remake is not just limited to PS5 but will also be released on Windows and Xbox Series X, marking the 20th anniversary of the original game’s release.

Meanwhile, the streets of the foggy town of Silent Hill are set to be walked again in the Silent Hill 2 remake. A widower named James Sunderland receives a mysterious letter from his deceased wife, leading him to the eerie town of Silent Hill. With the original creature designer Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka involved in the project, the remake is looking to preserve the terrifying atmosphere while modernizing gameplay aspects. Led by Bloober Team’s Mateusz Lenart and produced by Konami’s Motoi Okamoto, this game is primed to be a timed exclusive for the PlayStation 5, with a Windows version in development.

In a PlayStation YouTube video that spotlighted the forthcoming games for 2024, these two titles were among the lineup. While Konami has yet to announce the release dates, the showcase suggests both games are on track for this year. However, there’s always the caveat that release dates could be subject to change.

With the original voice acting featuring David Hayter reportedly making a comeback, Metal Gear fans are in for a treat, as long as they don’t mind the absence of new dialogue recordings. The enigmatic delta symbol in the game’s title also underscores Konami’s commitment to refreshing the brand while staying true to its roots.
