    Published on

Sinbad, the beloved comedian and actor, shared an uplifting message with fans about his journey toward recovery after experiencing a debilitating stroke in 2020 in March. The star of the hit sitcom “A Different World” and numerous comedy specials, Sinbad expressed his gratitude for the prayers and support he’s received from fans and loved ones, stating, “They’ve carried me this far and will see me through to the finish line.”

His words came through a video posted on his verified Instagram account, where he reflected on virtually joining his fellow cast members from “A Different World” as part of their 10-city tour of historically Black colleges and universities. The tour celebrates the series, which was set at the fictional Hillman College, and Sinbad made his appearance at the first stop on February 29 at Atlanta University Center.

In the video, Sinbad says, “It really is a different world out here!” The tour marks Sinbad’s first public engagement since his stroke. Speaking to his fans, Sinbad noted, “Thank you to everybody who’s been praying for me and saying good things and supporting me during this time in my life. It means a lot to me.”

He also acknowledged his surprise and delight that students on the tour knew of him and his work, “Getting a chance to be on a Zoom and say something to the kids… It’s wild that the kids even know who I am. That’s beautiful,” he remarked.

Sinbad, born David Adkins, has a storied career in comedy and acting, amassing a net worth of approximately $4 million as of 2024. From his rise to fame with HBO specials and television series to his roles in family-friendly movies like “Jingle All the Way,” Sinbad’s unique style and presence have left an indelible mark on the entertainment world.

He added, “God has been with us and he’s carried me. Well, he’s carried me through my whole life and it means so much when I hear from y’all and you tell me ‘Sinbad, keep going. We’re sending prayers. My family’s praying for you.”
