In a heartfelt tribute to his former co-star, Dennis Quaid has recently expressed his profound admiration and remembrance of the late Natasha Richardson. The actress, who tragically passed away in March 2009 following a skiing accident, shared the screen with Quaid in the beloved 1998 family film “The Parent Trap.”
During an interview with E! News, Quaid, now 70, spoke fondly of Richardson, stating, “Natasha, God bless her. She passed from us about 10 years ago and she’s so sorely missed. What a beautiful, beautiful woman, great person.” The two actors played divorced couple Nick and Elizabeth James in the movie, whose twin daughters, both portrayed by a young Lindsay Lohan, plot to reunite their estranged parents.
Richardson’s untimely death at the age of 45 left many in mourning, including her husband Liam Neeson and their two sons, Michéal and Daniel. The loss has had a lasting impact on those who knew her, as well as the fans who admired her work. In a touching revelation, her son Micheál shared with U.K.’s The Times how he watches her films, including “The Parent Trap,” to feel close to his “terrific mother.”
Reflecting on the movie that continues to resonate with audiences, Quaid also mused about the fate of his character, Nick Parker. He imagined Nick would be “sipping some of the wine out of his vineyard, not traveling too far from home,” and that “he’s still with Elizabeth too,” keeping the spirit of the film’s happy ending alive in the hearts of fans.
In addition to his memories of Richardson, Quaid reminisced about working with Lohan, who was just 11 years old during the making of the film. Quaid expressed awe at her talent even then, recalling, “She just had such control over her talent and what she was doing and during the shooting. She had me believing there were two girls. She was completely fearless.”
The bond among the cast members persists, as evidenced by Lohan’s recent gesture of sending Quaid a video message to wish him a happy 70th birthday. This ongoing connection underscores the enduring legacy of “The Parent Trap” and the impact it had on those involved.
