Trump vs. Biden: Divergent Approaches to the Israel-Palestine Conflict

    Published on

The Israel-Palestine conflict has long been a contentious issue in American politics, often becoming a litmus test for political leaders’ foreign policy credentials. In recent years, the approaches of President Joe Biden and his predecessor, Donald Trump, have underscored stark differences in their respective strategies and ideologies regarding this enduring dispute.

Under the Trump administration, unwavering support for Israel was a defining feature, as evidenced by a slew of policy decisions that delighted many pro-Israel advocates. Trump’s controversial move to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocate the U.S. Embassy there, along with his endorsement of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, symbolized a break from decades of American diplomacy which had been more measured. This staunch alignment with Israeli interests crystallized in Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” plan, which was widely criticized for marginalizing Palestinian aspirations for statehood.

Moreover, in the face of hostilities, Trump stood resolutely by Israel’s side, with little public concern for Palestinian casualties. His approach was encapsulated in the House’s handling of controversial statements by lawmakers on both sides of the issue. While Rep. Rashida Tlaib faced censure for her pro-Palestinian stance, similar consequences were not meted out to Rep. Brian Mast, who faced no censure for his contentious remarks about Palestinian culpability.

In contrast, Biden’s administration has signaled a return to a more traditional U.S. stance. While still affirming the strong bond with Israel, Biden has not shied away from expressing his support for a two-state solution, which envisions a future, sovereign Palestinian state existing peacefully alongside Israel. This nuanced position reflects a delicate balancing act, attempting to maintain strategic alliances while also acknowledging the complexities of the conflict.

However, Biden’s approach has not been without its critics, especially within his own party. As polls suggest, his handling of the recent Israel-Gaza violence has been particularly divisive, with young voters and voters of color expressing dissatisfaction. Data indicates a significant dip in Biden’s approval ratings among these groups, in part due to perceptions of his administration’s tacit endorsement of Israeli military actions which have resulted in high Palestinian casualties.

While Biden may have rebuked Netanyahu’s excessive use of force and called for a ceasefire, his administration’s continued military aid to Israel suggests the limits of his willingness to pressure the Israeli government publicly. This stance has opened up a rift within the Democratic Party, with progressive elements calling for a more assertive approach to safeguard Palestinian rights.

On the Republican side, Trump’s anticipated influence on the GOP if he were to seek office again, could mean a reversion to his administration’s hardline policies. Trump’s alignment with the evangelical Christian base, which sees unwavering support for Israel as a theological imperative, could further solidify this stance, once again impacting the dynamics of U.S. involvement in the conflict.

    1. BP makes a hostile interview with Kennedy. The BP, woman announcer, makes a jabber-mouth filibuster preventing Kennedy to speak. BP favors a European 2-State “Solution”. As if this absurd idea has ever worked. Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Pakistan & India — all failed European dictated Two-State Solutions. And then of course Chamberlain’s ‘Peace in our Time’ Appeasement Policy division of the Czech Republic in ’38. BP condemns Israeli settlements as illegal. Who made BP announcers: Judge, Jury, and God? Talk of turning Gaza over to the UN when the UN will not condemn Ham-ass.

Cenk Uygur, a Muslim born in Istanbul Turkey, condemns Israel for killing 30 times more civilians, despite Ham-ass refusal to surrender, he condemns Israel for the death toll in the Oct 7th Abomination War. Throughout the interview with Kennedy, Cenk makes a jabber-mouth filibuster. Cenk condemns Israel of brutality and cruelty; that Israel prevents Gaza from being a state. Kennedy repeats the many and multiple times a Palestinian state offered to Arabs and their refusal. Jabber-mouth declares the Jewish state represents an injustice! He cries: ‘When will the Palestinians have a state’?

Kennedy repeatedly denounces the TYT filibuster. Bottom line, Arabs lost their wars to throw the Jews into the Sea. Wars which Arab countries started. Currently 27 Independent Arab countries and only 1 Jewish State.

To what does this compare? Jews rebelled against the Romans in 66-70 War and 132-135 War. Jews endured exile refugee status without a State for 2000+ years till the Nazi Shoah. Post ’48 and ’67 Arab Wars, congratulations these dhimmi Arabs now directly compare to g’lut Israel prior to the victory of Israeli Independence in the 1948 War.

Jews: After rebelling against Roman rule, Jews faced centuries of statelessness, leading to a long history of diaspora and struggle for self-determination, culminating in the establishment of Israel in 1948.

Arabs: Following the Arab-Israeli wars, many Balestinians became refugees, and their quest for statehood has started to crystalize. These Arabs have repeatedly and on multiple occasions rejected any and all two State diplomatic initiatives. The consequences of these Wars, all of which Arab countries started, have left many Balestinians in difficult situations, similar to the historical experiences of Jews as stateless individuals. In 1970 the king of Jordan expelled the PLO from Jordan unto Lebanon.

The historical suffering of the Jewish people over 2,000 years is indeed marked by significant oppression, including forced expulsions, blood libels, and pogroms. These events have profoundly shaped Jewish identity and the collective memory of persecution, culminating in the urgent quest for a safe haven, which led to the establishment of Israel in 1948. This history of oppression utterly critical for understanding the Jewish perspective on statehood and security.

The Jewish experience of statelessness and persecution over centuries, a horror story. Indeed unique and marked by the significant historical trauma, including the event that culminated in the Shoah; the systematic slaughter of 75% of European Jewry in less than 3 years.

While Palestinians have faced their own struggles, including displacement and conflict, in no wise does their dhimmi exile experiences compare to the Jewish horror story of injustice and political and religious oppression. The Arab struggle simple does not equate to the historical horrors faced by Jews.
