Grace Kelley, the 27-year-old daughter of country music star Wynonna Judd, has been charged with soliciting for prostitution after being arrested for indecent exposure and obstructing governmental operations in Millbrook, Alabama. The arrest adds to a troubled history of legal issues for Kelley, who has previously faced drug-related charges and has been in and out of prison over the years.
The arrest occurred when Kelley was reportedly spotted on the side of a highway, exposing herself to passing vehicles. Holding a sign that read “A Ride for A Ride,” Kelley allegedly flashed her breasts and other private parts at drivers, leading to her detainment by the local police. “We responded to two calls involving her. In the first, she was observed in the area of businesses on Highway 14 near Murphy Oil by Walmart,” Millbrook police chief P.K. Johnson stated, detailing the incidents that led to her arrest.
Kelley’s behavior did not cease after the first encounter with law enforcement officers. According to Johnson, “She argued with them about the legality of what she was doing. And that it was not illegal for her to offer herself in exchange for rides.” Kelley’s confrontations with police continued, resulting in her arrest after a second call reported her causing a disturbance at a nearby gas station.
Kelley’s legal troubles are not new, as her past includes a 2016 arrest for manufacturing, selling, and distributing methamphetamine. She was sentenced to eight years in prison but was released on parole in 2019 after pleading guilty in exchange for a suspended sentence and mandated rehab. Kelley has violated parole multiple times since her release, leading to additional arrests.
Despite her struggles with the law and substance abuse, Kelley is also a mother. After giving birth to her daughter, Kaliyah, while on temporary leave from jail, sources say Wynonna Judd has been prepared to take care of the child should Kelley’s legal problems lead to further incarceration.
While Kelley remains behind bars on a $3,000 bond following the addition of the prostitution charge, the authorities involved have expressed concern over her well-being. Johnson added that while Kelley didn’t have any drugs or paraphernalia on her at the time of her arrest, he believes that her behavior was an indicator that she was under the influence at the time she was picked up.
