North Korea Expresses Anxiety Over US Missile Supplies to Ukraine Amid Escalating Tensions

    Published on

The international geopolitical landscape continues to be marred by anxiety and military maneuvers as North Korea has voiced its unease over the United States supplying long-range missiles to Ukraine. This pronouncement comes amid a backdrop of intense military activity in Eastern Europe, with various nations strategizing to counter perceived threats, and the Korean Peninsula itself facing growing tensions.

North Korea’s state media KCNA reported a statement from the country’s Ministry of National Defence expressing concern over the secret shipment of long-range missiles by the US to Ukraine. The director of the Department of Foreign Military Affairs of North Korea was quoted as saying, “The U.S. has secretly supplied long-range missiles to Ukraine, sparking off uneasiness and concern of the international community.” He further proclaimed, “The U.S. can never defeat the heroic Russian army and people with any latest weaponry or military support.”

The statement reflects Pyongyang’s support for Moscow and highlights the intertwined nature of global conflicts, with events in Ukraine resonating across the world to impact the power dynamics in East Asia. This development showcases a burgeoning military relationship between North Korea and Russia, which the United States and its allies view as an escalatory move in the region.

The tension is further compounded by the recent NATO exercises near Russia’s border with Finland, with Moscow warning that they raised the risk of “possible military incidents.” “To justify their aggressive aspirations, representatives of the North Atlantic bloc purposefully escalate hysteria around the imaginary Russian ‘threat.’ Including actively spreading insinuations about certain plans of Russia to attack the member countries of the organization,” she said.

In Eastern Europe, the Black Sea and the Middle East, there has been a noted increase in GPS jamming and spoofing, all areas close to conflict zones, according to industry group OpsGroup.

Amid these fraught circumstances, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged the international community to expedite the delivery of promised supplies from its allies. The urgency of his appeal underscores the broader picture of the conflict in Ukraine and its far-reaching implications. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has also criticized alliance countries for not being quicker to assist Ukraine against Russia.

In a poignant reflection of the war’s toll, a Russian missile attack hit an educational institution in Odesa, Ukraine, killing at least four and injuring others, including children and a pregnant woman.
