Target Corporation, the Minneapolis-based retail giant, has announced an ambitious plan to overhaul its Target Circle loyalty program and expand its store footprint and brand portfolio.
Its program includes advancing its acclaimed Target Circle membership program for an even more tailored and seamless shopping journey emphasizing value and relevance. Additionally, Target aims to expand its owned brand portfolio, valued at over $30 billion, by introducing new and trendy products while prioritizing quality and affordability. Furthermore, the company plans to invest in both constructing new stores and enhancing existing ones to extend its reach to new customers and provide added convenience.
“For years, Target has consistently built for the long-term, investing in the assets, capabilities and team that have differentiated our business, enabled us to deliver for guests in any environment and driven strong growth,” commented Brian Cornell, Target’s Chairman and CEO. “Today, with that same long-term view, we’re making strategic investments that expand on our core strengths, further elevate our guest experience and deepen our connection to both current and new guests. Most importantly, these plans provide fuel for our next era of growth.”
In 2024, Target is set to introduce and expand multiple in-house brands, offering a diverse selection across various categories and price points. This includes “dealworthy,” focusing on providing exceptional value on nearly 400 everyday basics spanning apparel, accessories, beauty, electronics, and home goods.
“up&up,” the largest essentials brand, will undergo a revamp with new formulations and hundreds of new everyday items. “Gigglescape,” a new toy brand, will debut with a range of playful items for kids and parents. These Target-owned brands are known for their blend of quality, style, and affordability, collectively driving over $30 billion in sales in 2023.
Target is set to bolster its stores-as-hubs strategy over the next decade with various key initiatives. These include constructing over 300 new stores to expand its reach and enhance the shopping experience, while also upgrading the majority of its nearly 2,000 existing stores with remodels, Ulta Beauty integrations, and improved same-day services.
Additionally, the brand aims to optimize its supply chain operations through next-day delivery and AI-driven inventory management, positioning itself as a top choice for consumers seeking quality, convenience, and exceptional service.
